Grief & Loss
Grief and Loss Recovery
Grief and Loss
Grief and Loss Recovery is a specialized loss recovery programme that offers people suffering loss of any kind, a safe place and a proven process to aid them in their recovery.
I have been a certified Grief and Loss Recovery Method Specialist © for almost two decades. To be clear, I must say that my specialty in Grief Recovery is not as a Grief Counsellor or a Grief Therapist. I am certified with The Grief Recovery Institute ©, a U.S. based international company, with over forty years experience.
The Grief Recovery Institute © lists over 40 different types of loss that can cause us to experience grief. We often think that losing a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences anyone can go through, and this is true, but there are other kinds of loss that cause equal pain and disorientation in our lives. Divorce is a major loss, so is the loss of a job, the loss of health, the loss of a longtime friendship.
One thing I will ask is that you not compare the Grief and Loss Recovery Method © with any other form of Grief Counselling or Grief Therapy that you may have experienced previously.
The Grief and Loss Recovery Method©:
I have worked with many people who were devastated by Grief. Some of those had lost jobs, friendships and partners. I remember a professional woman who joined one of my groups, grieving over her recent divorce...it took her almost six sessions to get the courage to say 'he will not take another minute of my life'.

Individual and Group Counseling Sessions
I offer both one-on-one and group sessions following the Grief and Loss Recovery Method ©.

Grief and Loss Recovery Groups ©
The Grief and Loss Recovery Programme © spans eight weekly sessions with groups of 5-9 people. Participants meet for two hours each week, guided by The Grief Recovery Handbook ©, actively engaging in a process that often leads to meaningful transformation
Guidance on Finding Meaning and Purpose After Loss
Participants in the Grief and Recovery Groups © are often supported in finding new meaning and purpose in their lives after the loss they have experienced. It is never too late or too early to begin this important work.
Initial meeting for information and processing
Some people require a bit more in terms of assurance, confidence and feeling comfortable about joining a group to deal with their pain. I am always willing to meet with individuals in a social setting to talk further about the process and help in any way I can.
The best thing you can do for yourself or someone you love
The work that I do can support you through your journey of healing and recovery. Group members offer compassionate care to each other and bit by bit, healing from the pain of grief and loss begins. I believe this can be one of the best gifts you can give yourself or someone you care about deeply.
Some of the mistakes we make when we are grieving
Maybe you have experienced some of these common ways that we sometimes deal with grief:
- We keep busy
- We wish we would have done more
- We grieve the death of our plans, dreams and hopes
- We blame ourselves
- We dwell on our regrets
